Hey guys, I had a piece roll out on my screen yesterday that has left me scratching my head.  It looks like it's made out of some sort of sand stone.  When it first came out it was covered in dirt and I swore I had about a 6" Angostura.  After picking it up and just rinsing it off I noticed the material and was disappointed.  But it had a worked feel, as in feeling, about it, but it looked like a geofact.  When I walked it over to Lewis he was as unsure as I was, and he suggested hanging on to it. I just went over it with a toothbrush.  It's a whitish material... Here is the kicker... there are parts of the edges that I swear look pressure flaked.
Guys, I'm stumped.  Has anyone seen anything simular to this that was an artifact? I'm including some pictures, but they don't really do justice to what I'm pointing out.  I've thought about dipping the piece in vinager to if it's just some heavy cilitche deposits, but I don't think that's it.  Any ideas???  Raymond

Its heavily deposited for sure. Might be some sort of digging implement.

..Ray, I see man made worked flaking in the pics.It has the shape and form of a knife..Thats what it may very well be.I would say its an artifact. Not all artifacts that are were made and used by ancient man had pressure flaking running across the body of the piece itself. Many times all that was nessasary was to simply do some fine edge touch up to sharpen a piece to use at that specific time. Then late maybe it would have been reworked more or it was simply discarded as it had served it purpose.I say give it a soak.I say its a knife..Thats my opinion on what I see..KH

Could it be an adz or a celt that's been "pecked" into shape. If that's what it is, it just hasn't been polished yet.

Looks like a knife or digging tool by the shape. Lets see some pics of it if you decide to soak it in vinegar.
