Just took a lunch break today and took my Dad out on a 4-wheeler to give him a break from taking care of my mother.

We went down the road to a couple of surface hunting spots (rare to find in Florida). The first was new house site where I had found a point a few weeks ago. It really poured the rain all day yesterday so I hoped for something to be laying flat out....yea right....lol!

Well it proved to be a "0" on points though Dad scored some flakes and a core. Went then to a bonafide site that been hunted a very long time. Some folks have been really making a mess of digging there lately. Its a really deep site. Looking around in their piles of dirt I touched a flake and this lil fella fell out! Then a broke drill. Then I did not want to do any work but just go back with a shovel and move a lil dirt!!! Smiley But work needed to be done and money was/is needed to be made.

Not sure what type of point I would call this lil item?

Glad you were able to get out a bit. Finding something was a bonus. Can't help with the I.D.

Rider a even more detail description would be.....a real little poot..almost a whisper.....lol

Its a Weeden island site which gives better pottery than points which are typically small for that time period. This site though is really deep and once down 4 or 5 feet its turns up early Archaic and some Kirks every now and then. Its Brown sand though and it is like working in a sand clock. One works his butt off trying to keep from getting buried back up. I much prefer the White sand and Black muck any day. here I am content to walk around other folks wasted energy seeing what they missed.

.Hey Gomer, I like the little pooter..Heck, I would call it a Weeden Island Dart Point!!..It may not be big but looks like whats there is pretty well made with nice shape..But then it is white and shape is mostly what I see..LMAO..and hey, its good to spend time with your Dad whenever you can...Thanks for the look...KH

KnifeHunter I agree.....Points made of any White material are hard to appreciate in a normal picture. Sure would of been nice is the lil fellar could have gotten closer to a fire somewhere in its life for a lil pizzaz or had maybe a few cousins found with it. Smiley
