I can't afford this one but seller guarentees it to be authentic.

...Bill, I went and checked it out and its a sad story that I see..You know what, I think the fellow is telling the truth.Whats sad is someone told him that point was worth a grand and its not..But even if it were triple papered I would not touch it as there its stated for all to see..NO RETURNS..Dude or Dudette has a really nice smith it looks like which would and could be atypical for a creek find..Sad indeed.KH

I dont know about that point. His story is, he was going fishing in a dried up creek bed. Hmm...

Probably typed it while he looked at a price guide.

Ha ha , he said that in his listing David? All I saw was the price he was asking for the point.

Yeah Joel, I know what you mean. Price guides have done as much harm as good!

Bill

This listing is typical of individuals who are not collectors and not regular ebay dealers.  He may have listed it for $1000 just to see if he would get any response, although, listing it with a reserve would probably have gotten him a better idea of its real value.

The point appears to be authentic but in my opinion its value would be between $100 - $200 at best.

My first point is no where near that nice, and it would take more than a $1000 for me to sell it.

He probably saw a fluted point somewhere and thought "That unfinished one is worth a grand, mine with notches is worth at least that."

Joshua and Martin, it's amazing how much artifact hunting today is driven purely by the hopes of someone hoping to find one of these expensive arrowheads.

Now that the word is out that arrowheads are worth money many landowners have put up no trespassing signs to guard against people taking away such a valuable resource.

Primarily thanks to E-bay, and price guides, folks are now denying permission to collect on their properties, even to those who had collected there for years previously.

I love artifacts and collecting but as it is with all things money changes and complicates a hobby that is one hell of a lot of fun!

It's a nice Missouri Smith, but not worth $1000. I've seen some nice ones of similar size sell for half that price at shows, but they were exceptional.
